Still on Track for the 16th
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 09, 2020 at 10:51:19 PM

Hey everybody!

I saw some of you had requested updates on this, and just wanted to let you all know you haven't been forgotten! As far as I know, we're still on track to receive everything on the 16th and start shipping pretty much as soon as that drops. If that date changes, either because it's earlier or later, I'll let you all know. There's nothing else to really report on until it gets here, so sorry there's nothing more significant.

Hope you're all staying healthy and safe out there, see you soon!

Further Shipping Delays
over 3 years ago – Thu, Nov 05, 2020 at 12:36:35 AM

I'm so sorry everybody, I just got an update from the printer about the estimated arrival of the decks and due to how slow their shipping method is (ocean freight), the decks will apparently be arriving to me now in mid December. I had hoped that everybody's things would arrive in time for the holidays, but that doesn't seem as likely anymore, and for that I apologize. :( We have a rough estimate of December 16th being the day they arrive to me, and I plan to get as much sent out on that day as possible, but the holiday rush will be in full swing by then so I can't guarantee things will arrive in time for Christmas unfortunately.

I hope this delay won't put too much of a damper on your excitement for these cards, having seen the sample in person they're really undeniably gorgeous and I'm positive you'll enjoy them, even if you happen to be somebody who backed the previous version. If you have any issues that come up from this delay and need these to be shipped to another address or anything like that, please don't hesitate to direct message me, and I'll get that taken care of for you.

To tide you all over as we wait patiently for this boat to move as fast as possible, I managed to grab the samples from my parents' place the other day and I brought a copy of the original run with me. I snagged some comparison photos of the two, and I think you'll see just how striking the difference is! The new version you'll all be getting will be shown on the left of all these photos, and the original run will be on the right. (The original run copy shown here is a sample I was bringing to my conventions and has seen better days after being handled by many hands so don't judge it too harshly lol)

Deckbox fronts. Current version left, previous version right.
Deckbox backs. Current version left, previous version right.
Card backs. Current version left, previous version right.
Gilded edges. Current version left, previous version right. Incredible difference!

Really cool, right? The box printing is much more matte than the original (which is also supposed to be matte!), and the cardstock used to make it s already much more sturdy. The card backs have that hint of bling now that's just so eye catching too, and really liven them up. What I'm really impressed by, however, are the gilded edges! They're so shiny and uniform, it feels like plastic when you run your fingers over them. There were some minor complaints about the gilding on the previous cards coming off and getting glitter everywhere, and I'm fairly certain that problem has been completely eliminated with the process the new printer uses. The card fronts are also much brighter and have a much sharper, clearer image as well. If you'd like to see any particular comparisons of card fronts, let me know and I can share them in another update in the future!

I hope you'll still be excited for this project of mine when it arrives, and that whether they're for yourself or for a loved one, they'll be enjoyed.

Thank you again for all your patience, it's much appreciated in these times.

Sample Has Arrived! Full Speed Ahead
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 04, 2020 at 03:54:29 PM

Hey everybody, the sample has arrived and everything is looking AMAZING. I'm so happy with how these have turned out, and I hope you all will be too. I just sent PrintNinja the message to send the rest my way and they should hopefully be here soon! If not this week then I'd be shocked they weren't here next week. For now, I'll leave you with photos of everything, courtesy of my mom, for your perusal!

If anybody you know was hemming and hawwing about whether or not to pick these up, they officially have a week to grab them before I close down the BackerKit until after shipment is complete! Last chance now!

Sample Shipped!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 31, 2020 at 03:08:15 AM

Hey everybody! Quick little update to let you all know my sample from PrintNinja shipped and should arrive next week! I'm excited to finally get to see it and make sure all is well, and hopefully shortly after it arrives the rest of the decks can start heading to me so they can go out to all of you.

Thanks again for your patience in all of this!

Decks Status and Shipping Times
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 22, 2020 at 05:40:36 AM

Hey everybody, PrintNinja got back to me this morning about the status of the decks! They're currently in the process of having the edges gilded, which means they're just about ready to go! The team will be sending me production samples first so I can make sure that everything looks correct and there's no major faults, and once those are approved, they'll be sending the rest of the decks to me. The production samples should be arriving to me next week, and I will absolutely be sharing photos with you all. :)

Now unfortunately with the timing of things, it's looking like it'll be next month in November when things can finally ship, and I apologize for the delays on that. Between Covid and postal system delays that have been cropping up I had a feeling things might be a little slower than the first run, and that seems to be the case here. Regardless though, once the decks are with me I can start shipping everything out ASAP since I have everything else ready and waiting. My brother is being conscripted to help me with packing orders, so it should hopefully go a little faster than me by my lonesome. :)

That's all for now! Thank you so much for your patience through all of this, and I apologize again for the slight delay here. I hope the wait will be worth it and that you'll all enjoy your cards and other goodies!
